Nel secondo album The Ascension of the Abysmal Aberrationle canzone sono maggiormente dark, contorte, mistiche, occulte, sci fi e nell’ultimo album Concatenation of Severe Infectiontrovi canzoni mistiche e gore perfettamente abbinate.

English Version

1 All my short interview start with the same question: what does Infected flesh means? What’s the name genenis?

Infected Flesh is the name chosen back in 1997 when a few friends fans of brutality gathered to start a musical project. That new project was based on the following pillars: very brutal music, ultrafast beats, guttural and frantic vocal patterns and gory lyrics. Everything was meant to be disgusting for non-accustomed ears, and so listening to one of our songs would be like getting a huge fucking pile of infected flesh right in front of your face.

2. Looking at last cover art, we can consider a delicious and perfect brutal example…how did you meet Marco Hasmann?

Marco has been doing a lot of great jobs for Comatose Music. It was Steve from Comatose Music who suggested having Marco doing our cover. The result speaks for itself.

3. Comatose, Coyote, Amputatedvein and Saved are (without a doubt) better brutal label..Have you arrived at the best?

I don’t think in terms of reaching the top at all. By saying that one is at the top, you are considering yourself better than others and that doesn’t make sense in my opinion. What makes this music so special is that it is all based on passion and dedication, so most people keeps improving along years but no one is able to make a life out of it. There are great bands, there are good bands and there are bad bands, but at the end we are all the same: passionate guys expressing ourselves through brutal music.
Working with a label like Comatose Music is a great experience and achievement for us but it does not mean we are better than others. We simply do the music we want to do regardless whether people is going to like it or not.

4. How was transition towards Comatose born?

When Seth and I started cooperating in Infected Flesh, we decided to record a two track promo in order to try and find a suitable record label to release a new album. We thought about 3-4 labels we could hit up with our promo CD and Comatose was our first option. We sent the promo to Steve and he hooked us up with a deal.

5. How much difficult is brutal life? Are there prejudices or stereotypes about your job?

In Spain, like in Italy I guess, social prejudices are still huge, so people doing metal music are still considered as anomalous. I have been doing brutal music for most of my life, and I intend to keep doing it for the rest of my life, so there´s one point where you don´t fucking care about the social perceptions and considerations.

6. About lyrics… which source inspiration do you have?

Lyrics are pretty eclectic and the inspiration sources vary. The first album, “Anthropophagical Devourment”, is mainly based on gore. Don’t look for anything else, only pure flesh, gut and bone stories. In the second album, “The Ascension of the Abysmal Aberration”, the lyrics are mainly dark, twisted, mystic, occult, sci-fi…And then in the new album, “Concatenation of Severe Infection” you find songs were mysticism and gore are perfectly matched.
For the lyrics of the new album the inspiration comes mainly from the daily life. Personal experiences or social deeds induce an embryo of idea that later I develop into a whole set of insane paragraphs conforming a song lyric.

7. In your opinion, how much important is the web for extreme metal sound?

The web is essential for everything nowadays. For extreme metal it is an awesome window to instantly display your band to other parts of the world.

8. Can we make a parallelism between the old tape trading with the modern p2p?

We started the band right before the internet implosion so basically our communications with other bands and labels were only by regular mail. The bad side of that was that it was seriously slow but the good thing was that things used to be “true”. Usually there was a true story behind, a guy just like you trying to move forward his band. Nowadays in internet you got to watch out and keep filtering lots of mess.

9. All over the world, which are the most important fan bases?

I don’t know. As per Infected Flesh I have met very cool fans in Austria.

10. Why should a death metal fan buy “Concatenation of Severe”?

If you like fast brutal death metal, with catchy parts, frantic vocal patterns, and a dark atmosphere and nice structures you will probably want to have “Concatenation of Severe Infections” in your collection.
